The Ultimate Travel Packing Checklist
‘How about not packing at all? Get up and get going; board a flight and land in your dream destination.
Check-in into a hotel. Rest and hit the streets and enjoy exploring the place.
You do carry your wallet and smart-phone everywhere you go, right? Then click some memorable selfies with famous landmarks or the lovely nature as the backdrop; and dine-in at a fancy restaurant serving indigenous specialties.’
Sounds perfect! Isn’t it? Yes…ummm…No..Yes…
Dreamy? Yes
Practical? No
Impossible? Not really, but inconvenient for sure. Traveling with nothing at all, not even a backpack is almost crazy.
However, packing up your entire wardrobe, or trying to carry the entire house in a suitcase too is equally insane.
The wisest of travelers advise traveling light.
So here’s a list of 6 things, that can be ditched or better must always be ditched while packing your travel bags
1. Travel Iron
You’ll most probably get this service in the hotel you check-in, and if you are going trekking, what’s the use of it anyway.
Carrying along with an iron, for that matter hair dryers too, is just making the load heavy. You sure can do without these.
2. That Third Pair of Denim
Denim takes up quite some space. Plus, it’s just not required to carry too many pairs because it is one piece of clothing that you can unhesitatingly repeat over and over again.
So two pairs will be more than enough. Try this next time you score cheap airline tickets.
3. Expensive Jewelry
Why take the risk of ruining your holiday by carrying along something that if lost, will not just cost you dear but take away your peace of mind as well.
Even if you are traveling to a wedding destination, it is a safer option to pack in imitation jewelry, if you don’t mind.
4. All kinds of Shoes
Wear a pair, and pack another. The best way is to wear the rough and tough sport shoes and pack in a fancy pair (in case you might want to dress up and go partying).
Carrying a matching pair with every single outfit is plain stupid. You can do better without that.
5. Reading Material
Some people enjoy reading while traveling. It is okay to carry along one great read to pass the time but resist the temptation of packing too many of those. It is so obvious, that books are heavy and they occupy quite some space.
But then if you are a book buff, make use of technology, kindle, etc. It will fit the baggage limits of the cheapest airlines.
6. All Keys in Possession
Going out for a long vacation? Yes, make sure you lock up the apartment, have all your lockers and drawers and cupboards locked at workspace as well as everywhere else. But don’t carry the entire bunch of keys with you.
What in case do you lose them? Securely place them in one place, keep the duplicates at another.
Lock and carry one main key with you. So, ready to book international flight tickets, yet?
