Keep Families Together with United Airlines New Ticket Policy
Compared to traditional ways where you have to book in advance for your whole family to offer a more manual process, the new policy by United Airlines will help you map available advanced seats when you’re booking.
How Does the New Ticketing Policy for Families Work?
- Under this, the available free economy seats will be shown first to the user. In case, no options are present, you can opt for a complimentary upgrade (if needed) to match your preferred seats.
- In cases where adjacent seats are not available due to any reason including last-minute booking, schedule change, or full flight situations then you get to enjoy a free switch to a flight (having the adjacent seats) that is going to your requested destination. Note: This policy covers waiving off the difference of fare charges between the original flight and the new flight.
- The new policy includes United’s Basic Economy tickets also whereas United Polaris, First Class, and Economy Plus seats are not.
Why United Airlines Introduces the New Policy Specifically for Families?
“In an era where more families are working in a hybrid environment, they’re traveling more often – and they’re flying United,”
“We’re focused on delivering a great experience for our younger passengers and their parents and know it often starts with the right seat.
We look forward to rolling out more family-friendly features this year,” said Linda Jojo, Chief Customer Officer for United Airlines.
United has designed the policy, especially for families, in a way that an adult can accompany children under the age of 12 with no additional fee. Though this policy will strengthen the position of flyers without the need to ask agents for swaps at the gate or change seats with fellow passengers, for you to sit with your family.
Why this policy? As a part of the Junk Fee Prevention Act, recent announcements by the White House state its plan to ban family seating fees applicable to all airlines. United Airlines have taken the initiative to introduce and market on future possibilities.
