  6. Award Tickets: For Award Tickets (tickets booked against miles earned), the changes are available only up to 72 hours before the flight departure. You have to pay a flight change fee of $150 to process. However, Elite status members like Diamond and Platinum medallion members don’t have to pay any charge.
  7. Third-Party Ticket Changes: Such charges apply to third party ticket bookings. This includes reservations through a traditional travel agency or online travel agency. Also, other airlines, such as SkyTeam members and Delta’s codeshare partners, fall under the same category.
  8. No Additional Charges: No additional charges apply to tickets issued by Delta. These are also not applicable to involuntary changes. Further, tickets issued on military or government fares, customers with a SkyMiles upgrade, and Same-day confirmed ticket changes don’t carry any additional charge.
  9. External Ticket Charge: Delta slaps an external ticket handling charge of $50 if you make changes through reservation sales or from Delta’s Ticket Office Locations. However, you can escape this charge if you successfully make changes to Delta’s official website.
  10. Same-Day Confirmed: There is no same-day confirmed charge for Diamond, Platinum, and Gold Medallion members. For others, if seats are available on your original flight, you can change the Delta flight ticket to a confirmed place on a new flight after paying $75.
  11. Same-Day Standby: Delta’s same-day standby fee is also complimentary for Diamond, Platinum, and Gold Medallion members and $75 for others.

Delta deducts the cancelation fee from the cost of your flight. The remaining value will be converted to an e-Credit that you may redeem on future travel. eCredit is valid for one year from the date of issuance.

 The cancelation fee for a non-refundable ticket starts form $200. The cost varies depending on the flight itinerary.

In the unfortunate event of death, Delta flight cancelation policy states:

  • A full refund is given in case of the death of the passenger.
  • Cancelation is also possible if a family member of the passenger passes away within 30 days of travel. Delta Air Lines will process the refund.
