India’s major airports, particularly Indira Gandhi International Airport, have been severely congested, with passengers complaining about long lines at entrance gates and security checks while on-boarding with their cheap international flight tickets.
To improve the flow of passengers at airport entrance gates, the government has ordered that airlines issue plane tickets with barcodes. Airlines, on the other hand, have objected, claiming that they should not be held liable for how an e-ticket is generated because a huge percentage of tickets are provided by travel agencies.
The administration made this decision after major airports in the nation experienced enormous congestion at several terminals. Passengers booking long-haul flights & last minute flights have complained about long lines at the airport’s entry, check-in, and security checkpoints.
Currently, an e-ticket contains information on a passenger’s flight itinerary, airline data, travel time, possible transfers, and luggage information. A senior government official stated at a meeting with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) that one of the bottlenecks was discovered at the airport entry gates.
“Passengers come with various types of airline tickets, which must then be manually checked by security agents at the entry gate.
