Air India Expands Into The Aviation Market With 6 New B777-300ERs

Air India, a company controlled by the Tata Group, announced on Monday that it had leased six more wide-body B777-300ER aircraft to increase its international flying operations. This is in addition to the 30 aircraft the carrier leased in September: 21 narrow-body A320neo, 4 narrow-body A321neo, and 5 wide-body B777-200LR. The 30 aircraft leased in September are anticipated to join the airline’s fleet by the end of 2023 and the remaining six by June 2023. As these operations will increase, flights to India from USA and Canada and vice versa will also see a rise in Aviation Market.

In an earlier announcement, the Tata Group-controlled carrier announced its intention to lease 12 aircraft, including six wide-body B777-300ERs and six narrow-body A320neos, in order to expand its domestic and global network. This will boost the booking of international flight ticket online from USA to India.

According to an amended statement, Air India will lease six B777-300 ERs to add to its fleet. During the first half of 2023, Air India plans to introduce these aircraft.

The B777-300 ER, which Air India will use to connect Indian metropolises with additional foreign locations like the USA and Canada, will offer four classes: First, Business, Premium Economy, and Economy, according to the airline.

Air India has reactivated 19 aircraft that were dormant for some time, and it has leased additional aircraft. Nine more aircraft are set to join the fleet soon. In addition to leasing these aircraft, Air India is in talks to make a significant aircraft purchase with Boeing and Airbus to secure future growth.

Along with announcing increased international flight services, like flights to India from USA or vice versa, Air India is increasing the frequency of flights between important cities on domestic routes as part of the development.

As per the statement of the Managing Director and CEO of Air India, Campbell Wilson, a crucial component of Air India’s Vihaan is expanding the network. The airline is still committed to improving connectivity and flying frequency on both domestic and international routes as part of the AI transformation journey. Even while it completes plans to update and greatly expand the company’s long-term fleet, the new aircraft leases will support the airline’s expansion in the short term, he added.

In the past few days, the Tata group and Singapore Airlines (SIA) announced that Vistara and Air India would combine to form a single full-service airline, with SIA owning a 25.1 percent stake in the new company. To form a single low-cost subsidiary of Air India, AirAsia India, and Air India Express are currently integrating. Over the past six months, Air India has concentrated on growing internationally and aims to provide more flights to India from USA and Canada and vice verse.

According to statistics from aviation analytics company Cirium, the carrier has 809 foreign flights per week planned for December, which is nearly 22% more than it did in June.

The fleet of Air India alone numbers 114 aircraft. The airline’s fleet will grow to 150 aircraft by the end of 2023 thanks to the addition of 36 leased aircraft (30 leased in September plus 6 leased presently).

A wide-body aircraft can travel nonstop on longer routes like India-US and India-Canada because of its larger fuel tank. This will increase the demand for long-haul flights from India to Canada on Flyopedia.ca and USA and flights to India from USA.

The six aircraft lease will support the short-term expansion of Air India as they finalize plans to update and significantly expand the fleet in long term.

According to experts, the slow restoration of international capacity to India by many foreign airlines, which is partially due to problems with Russian airspace and partially due to general global problems affecting airlines, has put Air India in a favorable position on the international market. As Air India can access Russian airspace, which particularly provides it a benefit on long-haul flights to North America. Air India does not face staffing or other challenges that carriers experience in other markets.
