Due to the large number of Indian students heading to the US this fall, Air India has recently announced that it is doubling its non- stop flights to the US from August 7th, 2021. Previously, when the 2nd wave of COVID19 had hit, Air India had reduced its number of weekly flights from 40 to 10 because the US imposed restrictions on travelers starting from May 4th, 2021.
At present, the airline will operate a minimum of 21 flights per week going to the US. The maximum increase of flights are those going to New York (JFK and Newark or EWR), followed by those to Chicago and San Francisco, according to known sources.
Apart from Air India, United Airlines is the only other airline with no- stops between the 2 countries, which is not changing Indian students flights frequencies for now. Consequently, US to India student flights are naturally affected in accordance with the changes.
